Youth Instructional Hitting Videos
Coaches tell kids all the time, "Keep your head down." A lot of time, it means nothing to the kid until he sees it in action. This video from Dead Red Hitting should help.
Here's another one from Dead Red Hitting that explains 1) the importance of using your hips (not your arms) when you swing the bat, and 2) why you don't want to spin on your front foot when you swing.
This is a great analysis of Miguel Cabrera's swing. Cabrera is, quite possibly, the best hitter in baseball today, and this breaks down his swing very well. It shows his hands, front step, balance, follow-through - everything your coaches tell you to do...
Here's a quick one of Miguel Cabrera's swing in slo-mo so you can see everything all the way through.
Here's one for you lefties... possibly the sweetest swing in baseball since Ted Williams, Ken Griffey, Jr.'s swing is perfect. Especially watch how, as soon as his front foot starts to lift up, his back foot and hips are already pushing him toward the pitcher. Natural, perfect power!
